Thought it was about time i updated this 'ere Journal...so i am
As ever,another Tune/Title! This time,its Dop's "Mambo Jumbo",given a superb reworking by Guy Gerber...a big fave with me at the moment I love it twisted and tribal...
Recently spent a great weekend in Chester,which is up near the city of Liverpool. I met up with an old friend of mine,John,and a good time was definately had! I always love new places to explore,and meeting new people...probably drank my body weight in alcohol too,but the less said about that,the better... It's a lovely place,lots of lovely old buildings...i recommend the place for a visit,definately Im sure most of you have seen the new ID picture,so you get the idea...
Work finally begins on my entries for Golden Demon this year...no details as yet (i know,im a tease) but my plan this year is to concentrate on just one or two categories,i hope that this will mean the extra dedication and time spent will equal trophy goodness
My pageview count recently went past 16,000...whilst this is is still small compared to some,i still thank all those that visit,whether you be regulars,or just passing by...cheers!
And so onto something i've wanted to do for a while,a feature of some cool people i know here on DA,and indeed,in real life Some need no introductions,others,in my view,sadly overlooked... Onwards!
*Aerion-the-Faithful - Nic,a fantastic traditional artist. He takes the gritty ideas of the Warhammer 40k universe,and applies his own unique twist on them! For a fresh new look on 40k,visit him...i especially love the Primarch series
=charlie140588 - Young,but extremely talented digital artist. She already has a couple of Daily Deviations to her name,and once you've looked at her Gallery,you'll see why! Amazing style,and use of colours
~das-fet - One of my best friends,and fellow model painter Originally from New Zealand,Fet is a constant inspiration,his high standard of miniature painting and often blunt (but helpful) opinions keep pushing what i know and what i do in terms of my own work...what more can i say? A fabulous gentleman.
~migge21 - Trevor,miniature and music lover Another regular at the stores i frequent,Trev is new to painting the sort of fantasy stuff you see in my Gallery,but is no stranger to model building and painting,having spent most of his life doing WWII kits and the like.His expertise is invaluable,but he's also keen to listen and try new things. We also think similarly when it comes to ideas for projects He doesn't have any models up in his Gallery yet (we're gonna try and sort that soon!) but there are a few poems,quite gritty stuff...
~pixxiegoth - Lovely Nicola,my painting padawan! If its pretty,she wants to paint it! Again,relatively new to miniature painting,but she listens,and applies advice...and then exceeds more often than not...i'd like to say its my teaching,but its more that Nicola is naturally talented Super fun to be around,its hard to stay miserable in her presence! Check out her Gallery for toys and her great poetry.
~severedanomaly - My long suffering friend Sarah,our chats on MSN are long and epic! She loves animals,and her arty thing is to customize My Little Ponies...i had no idea that went on until she started doing it! Im meant to be doing one,but i aint starting it until she starts the miniature she has...go bully her
`Thebuild - DA's resident miniature sculpting (and bunny!) expert I think anyone thats into toy soldiers and is on DeviantArt should know about this man already...but if you dont,go rectify that right now! I've had the pleasure of meeting Rich in person,and he is just as nice as the comments he leaves on pages across DA suggest. He's as helpful as a person can be,and is my mentor when it comes to sculpting...without his advice,i wouldnt be half as good as i am now. Even if you know nothing about miniatures,you should check out his sculpting
*wingdthing The brilliant Nicole West. Her work came to my attention after she got a Daily Deviation...and i've been in love with her work ever since! Nicole sculpts such beautiful faces on her figures,and the costumes and other details are always fantastic. I've gone so far as to put her name on my "favourite artist" list on my DA Info,thats how much i like her work...go see it now
~witch-of-chaos - Like Nicola,Lola here is another newbie to painting miniatures,but is seemingly a quick learner! Her work in terms of how long she's been painting is already far ahead of what i could achieve on a similar timeline,and i dont think Lola gets enough looks on her page She also likes to draw when lectures are boring...all those doodles are there too
~silver-fox-83 - Another of my best friends,Jon Mad for all things greenskin (Orks and Goblins!) and a martial arts fanatic. He's probably the most dedicated person i know,and also the most enthusiastic! His Gallery is relatively new,but he's already filled it with what he loves
So there we have it...the people who i love and respect the most here on DA Their words and works help shape me and my own projects...and im extremely grateful for knowing them,whether in real life,or on the various virtual options
