Everything I See...

Greetings, welcome to the first proper Journal update for the New Year! :D Hope everyone is good, and that you're not suffering the blues already...:p
:bulletpurple: First up,the Title/Tune of this entry...I've just put the finishing touches to Rendered 12,and out of all the mixes ive done,i think this one is one of my favourites! "Everything I See" by Sei A is one of the tracks featured,in its Dub version...:D
:bulletpurple: Been pretty busy recently,i'll explain the major bit later, but something ive been looking forward to is the Salute convention in March, the 28th i believe! Myself and fellow Cambridge chaps went for the first time last year,to see what it was all about...and we rather enjoyed it,so we're off again! In particular,we'll be going for the painting competition,we like it because its not just limited to Games Workshop models,so its a chance to do some different companies toys! :D As far as im aware, there will be lots of Golden Demon painters going,so it'll be like a mini Games Day! But thats ok...competition is healthy!
I earned a second place last year, which was cool...this year,i have 3 models ongoing for it,a 54mm GW piece,my first Helldorado figure and last year's Salute model...i have a cunning plan for that ;)
:bulletpurple: The recession isn't being a fun thing at the moment...especially in the automotive industry..and that, unfortunately,is the area in which the company i work for does business. Before Christmas, all the agency people were let go,but things continue to get worse...and so,last week, they were asking for 19 volunteers to take redundancy...not good! However...ive applied for it,as i have something better potentially lined up...oh yes...
:bulletpurple: About a month before Christmas,Games Workshop advertised in their monthly magazine,White Dwarf, for trainee miniature sculptors. I was kind of interested, but didnt think i'd have what they wanted...but as it was,a few of my friends said i should go for it,see what sort of feedback i'd get...so i did,i emailed them and sent the Canoness greens photos that you can see in my Gallery :D
Imagine my surprise to be offered an interview! I duly went up to the GW headquarters for this, and took what i had for them to look at.I had a good talk with the studio manager, and the sculptor Dave Thomas, who's work i do greatly admire...he was very helpful, and answered the questions i had :)
Anyway,at the moment,i have a "Part 2" of the interview to do,it was noted that a lot of my sculpting work is for conversions, and so they want to see if i can do a full scratch build, which is fair enough! I have to pick a current metal model from their ranges, and copy it to the best of my ability...a little daunting, but im gonna give it a go!
And so this is why i want to get redundancy...i can leave my job,and have the time i need to do the sculpting...and,i'll have a bit of money in my bank account to tide me over, and if i get the position...i have some money to set myself up in Nottingham! :D
This is my plan...i hope it works out...but i have the suspicion it'll go wrong somehow...it normally does!
NO! Optimism...:D
Well,i think that sums up things at the moment...i have the opportunity to achieve a lot of good things in the near future,a massive new start for me will be awesome i think...if the Gods be willing...
Love,Peace and Grease,
Ben x

WHOOOOO All the best mate :D Rich told me about it, cos you see (and this will freak you out a bit) he was working at the Games Workshop in Brisbane that I worked at before my Japan trip. Talk about a small bloody world!?!?!

All the best with your application, I hope you can do well mate :) You're work has always impressed me and is very GW so it should fit in rather well. Give it your best, and stay optimistic!

Haha, why thank you! I've kept it a bit quiet till now as i wanted to be a bit more confident with the situation before unleashing it on the world lol
And yes,the world is smaller these days isnt it?! Rich is an awesome guy.
I'm gonna give it the best shot i can...:)
