Chaos Terminator Lord III by Djartistknight Chaos Terminator Lord III by Djartistknight
My Terminator Lord for this year :)
As with the previous models, i wanted to take the basic plastic kit GW do, and push it further...even more so than i did last year.
I lost count of how many hours i spent on this big lad, but as you can see...much sculpting and detailing went into him, and despite him not even making Finalist at Golden Demon, i still think he's one of the best models i've done.
Tried a lot of new things with him, most notably with the base, where ive experimented with some different materials and military dusts :)
Feel free to ask any questions you want, answering them will be easier than me trying to remember everything!
Comments and Crits welcomed as ever,
Ben x

Hey man - I love the work you've done on this model and the conversion work is phenomonal! How did you manage to use such a monochrome palate and still have him look so vibrant? I'd love to be able to pull off an effect like this because it really appeals to my idea of how 40k should look - it is the grim DARK future after all!

OMG this is freaking amazing! Definitely gonna follow your projects :) I love how people can just create stuff like this. I'm just beginning modeling 40k units so going off on a tangent like this is still too intimidating for me at this point.

Excellent work!

excellent colours and excellent lighting. Starting his hobby really exposes you to how incredible a model like this is. I love all the light subtle highlights on the skulls and the metal skirt covering his hips.

Hey I recognize that gw piece. He's wearing old ork underwear! ;)

I use a variety of colours in very thin washes to get the metal...
If you care to, there's a painting tutorial in my Gallery, it gives you an idea what i do to get the finish :)

if im honest im not supprised but thats not a bad thing lol. you have deffently got a way of making dry brushing looking great. i think its one of thoughs things that are easy to lean but hard to put into usefull effect. not to much for my to dry brush in my nid army =P

build it, im a big fan of simple conversions myself (mostly part swapping and angling). I think i recognise the axe, but if you scratch made it i'd be wrong :D

The main head of it is from the Fantasy Chaos Knights box set, then the rest is made up from a normal Terminator Thunder Hammer arm, a flamer bit to make the generator and the flail on the end os from the Empire Flagellant set... all pinned together! Oh, and a few sculpted details, most notably the power generator on the blade itself, to tie it in with the 40k idea more :)
Pretty easy, if you have access to the bits...
