Lots of people keep asking me to do a Space Marine here on DA...so here is one! I really like Black Templars, the whole knightly crusade feel of them and the artwork GW put forth in their Codex is just superb...if i were ever to do a Marine army, these are the boys for me! Anyway, this is just my usual plastic kit bash and green stuff combo, and he is to be a gift for a guy i do a lot of commission work for,he is a massive Black Templar fan too! He's been very good to me over the last year with work,so this chap is a gift for him to show my appreciation. Not sure EXACTLY what he is...Sword Bretheren maybe Black undercoat,GW acrylics and Tamiya Clear Glaze Orange. Ben x
I really like what you've done with the scheme, the jet black on the black templars has always looked a little off to me. However you've hit the nail the on the head with this piece, definitely recognizable as a black templar but not slapping you in the face with a jet black colour scheme. The glazes you've added really bring out the shadows, joins and highlights of the piece.
Love it! I am a BT guy, I run an army based on the BT (same rules, same models, just instead of black armor, it's dark blue, and the fact that I have yet to paint anything, its all at the modelling and undercoating stage) but I am really impressed by the color, as *TheBuild says, its a nice change from Jet Black, and excellent pose!! Nice and passive. Good job man

Do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing
Not really, the shoulder pads have a raised lip added to the top,so its perfectly fine where it is...that and he's a seasoned warrior,he'd know the perfect balance of his weapon... So there! Thanks though,he was a lot of fun Ben x

Yea,i always try for a reasonable balance...with this guy,i figured he was a veteran, and the extra armour plates would be bolted on top of his existing black armour,so it meant i could have fun with my beloved metallics, and they would help the black stand out nicely I was pleased with the pose too Thanks for the comments and the Fave! I do appreciate it all. Ben
