Let me think...musta been 9 or 10 years ago now...they did a few of this scale for a series but they stopped doing them now, mores the pity...cant get them anywhere! And no...im not on 'Eavy Metal...lol
No,he is a piece Forgeworld did many years ago, almost when they first started i think! He was part of their 'Collectors Series',i think he's about 70mm or something... Its a shame they dont do the Series anymore! Ben x
The blues to white are extremely smooth and the red runes on the sword are EXTREMELY impressive.
Only personal peev would be the muted colors there is ALOT of white in this model and it leaves the purples, blue, green and the bleached tabard are left muted but that wasn't what you were going for with this model, plus you were actually IN the Golden Demon contest.
Thanks for the crit... Im not sure i fully understand the muted comment, but i shall offer what the idea was,and you may make of it what you will Basically, this is based on the Geoff Taylor Codex art from a few editions ago,so the blues and purples are meant to be shadows to the white, not dominant,so if by muted you mea they dont stand out so much,good...thats what i was after! Same goes for the neutral tabard and the crest,i deliberately picked colours i thought would tie in nicely, but would let the white shine out... At least, that was the idea...this was only the second model i'd ever tried on white basecoat, and indeed,i havent tried it since... I do thank you for the comment though, hopefully that gives you a bit more of an idea what i was trying! Ben
Eh well...theres plenty of tutorials about if you look,so i just picked one and tried it...but modified it as i went along,as is so often the case! Im sure most people do that...find their own way with things... Ben
No idea how you missed it,it was my Featured Deviation for AGES till i put the Merc up lol I couldnt begin to guess at the hours...it was a second attempt on a white basecoat, and it involved LOTS of thinned out washes to build up the shadows, then re-highlight...and thats just the armour! Took me months on and off,i do know that..bloody chuffed and relieved to get him done though, definately one of my best pieces to date Ben
